CE Marked & British Certified
Every plasterboard we supply is CE marked and certified to British standards — standard, Fireline and moisture resistant, in both 8x4 and 6x3. That means the boards meet the required specifications for fire performance, moisture resistance and structural quality, and are suitable for use on building-regulations work and sign-off. We supply the same certified boards to trade and to the public, at the same price.
How to Order
Plasterboard at these prices is ordered directly with our team rather than through the online checkout — that way we can confirm stock, work out your exact delivery cost and get boards to you on the next available run. Lines are open Monday to Saturday, 9:00am–5:30pm.

Because we deliver plasterboard on our own vehicles rather than through a national pallet network, we can keep rates low and get boards to site quickly. It also means we handle part loads sensibly — there is no need to order a full pallet just to make delivery worthwhile. Delivery is kerbside, so please have someone on site to take the boards in. An 8x4 board is awkward for one person; if access is tight or you are working alone, the 6x3 boards are far easier to manage.

8x4 or 6x3 — Which Size Do You Need?

An 8x4 board measures 2400 x 1200mm and covers 2.88m². A 6x3 board measures 1800 x 900mm and covers 1.62m² — a little over half the area. Board for board the 8x4 works out cheaper per square metre, and fewer sheets means fewer joints to tape and fill, so it is the default choice for open rooms and whole-house work.

The 6x3 earns its place on handling. A full-size 8x4 weighs around 22kg and genuinely needs two people. A 6x3 is roughly 12kg and one person can carry, lift and fix it alone. If you are boarding a loft, working up a narrow staircase, patching a ceiling or fitting out a small bathroom, the smaller sheet will save you more in effort than it costs in price per metre. Plenty of customers order both on the same delivery.

Which Plasterboard Type Do You Need?

Standard Plasterboard

The default choice for general drylining. Standard 12.5mm board suits internal partition walls, ceilings and any dry room with no specific fire or moisture requirement — bedrooms, living rooms, hallways and landings. Grey face, ivory reverse, tapered edge for jointing and skimming. £7.50 + VAT for 8x4, £5.50 + VAT for 6x3.

Fireline Plasterboard

Fireline board contains glass fibre reinforcement in the gypsum core, which holds the board together for longer when exposed to fire. You will need it wherever building regulations call for a fire rating — garage ceilings under a habitable room, party walls between dwellings, protected escape routes, stairwells, and around boilers or plant rooms. Recognisable by its pink face. At 12.5mm it typically contributes to a 30-minute fire resistance rating within a tested system, though the actual rating always depends on the full construction rather than the board alone. £10.00 + VAT for 8x4, £6.88 + VAT for 6x3.

Moisture Resistant Plasterboard

Moisture resistant board has water-repellent additives in the core, making it suitable for bathrooms, en-suites, kitchens, utility rooms and cloakrooms — anywhere humidity is high but the board is not directly wetted. Green faced, so it is easy to identify on site. Worth noting: moisture resistant board is not the same as a tile backer board. For a shower enclosure or wet room where water sits against the surface, you want a dedicated backer board instead. £10.83 + VAT, 8x4 only.

Why Buy Plasterboard From Us

We are an independent, family-run merchant based in Preston, and plasterboard is the category where being local genuinely counts. Board is bulky, heavy and cheap relative to its size, which means transport is a large share of what you actually pay. National retailers price long-distance haulage into every order. We do not, so we hold our prices well below the big sheds for anyone across Lancashire and Greater Manchester.

We also do not insist on pallet quantities. If you are a plasterer who needs eleven boards to finish a job, or a homeowner boarding out one room, that is a perfectly normal order and we will deliver it. Trade accounts are available for regular buyers, and we are happy to quote for larger volumes.

Outside the North West? Nationwide Pallet Delivery

The prices above are our local rates, delivered on our own vehicles across Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cumbria and Yorkshire. If you are outside that area we ship full pallets through a national pallet network instead. That haulage costs considerably more, so those pallets carry their own delivered-to-your-door price with nothing else to pay — no separate delivery charge, anywhere in mainland Britain.

Full pallets only for nationwide orders, as part loads are not practical on the pallet network. If you are within our own delivery area, the local pricing above will always work out cheaper — give us a call.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does plasterboard cost in Preston?

8x4 boards are £7.50 + VAT for standard, £10.00 + VAT for Fireline and £10.83 + VAT for moisture resistant. 6x3 boards are £5.50 + VAT for standard and £6.88 + VAT for Fireline. All boards are 12.5mm and there is no minimum order.

What sizes of plasterboard do you stock?

Two sizes. 8x4 boards measure 2400 x 1200mm and cover 2.88m² each. 6x3 boards measure 1800 x 900mm and cover 1.62m² each. Both are 12.5mm thick. Standard and Fireline are available in both sizes; moisture resistant is 8x4 only.

Should I use 8x4 or 6x3 plasterboard?

Use 8x4 for open rooms and whole-house work — it is cheaper per square metre and leaves fewer joints. Use 6x3 for lofts, narrow stairwells, small repairs and anywhere you are working alone, as a 6x3 weighs roughly 12kg against 22kg for an 8x4.

Can I buy just one sheet of plasterboard?

Yes. There is no minimum order — you can buy a single board at the same per-board price, right up to full pallet quantities. Delivery is charged separately, starting at £20 across Lancashire and Greater Manchester.

How much is plasterboard delivery?

Delivery is £20 across Lancashire and Greater Manchester, including Southport, Oldham, Burnley, Accrington and Clitheroe. Liverpool and Cumbria are £30 and Yorkshire is £80. For anywhere further afield, give us your postcode and we will quote.

What is the difference between standard, Fireline and moisture resistant plasterboard?

Standard board is for general internal walls and ceilings. Fireline board has a glass-fibre reinforced core for fire-rated applications such as garage ceilings and party walls. Moisture resistant board has water-repellent additives for bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms.

How many plasterboards are on a pallet?

Pallet quantities are 84 boards for 8x4 standard, 74 for 8x4 Fireline, 74 for 8x4 moisture resistant, 95 for 6x3 standard and 76 for 6x3 Fireline. You do not have to buy a full pallet — there is no minimum order.

How much does an 8x4 plasterboard weigh?

A 2400 x 1200 x 12.5mm standard board weighs roughly 22kg. A 6x3 board of the same thickness is around 12kg. Fireline and moisture resistant boards are slightly heavier again.

Do you deliver plasterboard to Manchester and Liverpool?

Yes. Greater Manchester falls within our £20 delivery band alongside Lancashire, as do Oldham, Bolton, Wigan and Southport. Liverpool is £30. Give us a postcode and we will confirm before you order.

Can I use moisture resistant plasterboard in a shower?

Moisture resistant board suits humid rooms but is not designed for direct water contact. For a shower enclosure or wet room, use a dedicated tile backer board behind the tiling instead.

Why can I not order plasterboard through the website checkout?

Local plasterboard pricing depends on your postcode and quantity, so we take those orders by phone, WhatsApp or email to confirm stock and delivery before you pay. If you are outside our own delivery area, full pallets shipped nationwide on the pallet network can be bought online with delivery included in the price.

Are your plasterboards CE marked and certified?

Yes. All of our plasterboard is CE marked and certified to British standards, across standard, Fireline and moisture resistant boards in both 8x4 and 6x3 sizes. The boards are suitable for building-regulations work.

Do you offer trade accounts on plasterboard?

Yes. Trade accounts are available for regular buyers and we quote on larger volumes. Get in touch and we will set one up.
