Authentic reclaimed bricks with genuine aged character, ideal for conservation areas and heritage restoration. Free delivery anywhere in mainland Britain.
There's an important difference between a genuine reclaimed brick and a new brick made to look weathered. Ours are the real thing — salvaged from demolished buildings, cleaned, and graded for reuse. Every mark, every variation in colour, every softened edge is decades or centuries old, not manufactured to look that way.
That authenticity matters most in two situations: conservation areas, where planning conditions often specifically require reclaimed material rather than a reproduction, and listed building work, where a mismatched new brick is immediately obvious next to two hundred years of genuine weathering. If your project falls into either category, this is very likely the range you need, not our handmade range.
A classic red-brown reclaimed brick with the soft, worn arrises typical of genuinely old stock. Well suited to Victorian and Edwardian extension work where the existing brickwork has similar tonal warmth.
A slightly cooler-toned reclaimed brick with more visible colour variation, suited to properties where the existing brickwork shows a wider tonal range rather than a single consistent shade.
Quantity matters more than usual. Reclaimed stock is finite — once a batch is gone, we can't simply order more of the exact same brick from a factory. If your project needs a specific quantity, it's worth confirming availability before you finalise a build programme around it, particularly for anything beyond a small extension.
Expect more variation than a new brick. That's the nature of reclaimed material — bricks from different parts of the original building, different exposure, different ages of mortar residue. A good bricklayer will mix bricks from several packs as they lay, rather than working through one pack at a time, to spread the variation evenly across the wall.
Check your planning conditions. If reclaimed brick is a condition of planning permission rather than just a preference, keep your order confirmation and delivery paperwork — building control or planning officers occasionally ask for evidence of what was actually supplied.
Given how much reclaimed brick matching depends on tone and texture, we would strongly recommend ordering a free sample before committing to a full order — more so than with any other product we sell.
Delivery is free to any UK mainland address, which matters here more than most categories — the right reclaimed brick for a conservation project is rarely available locally. We are an independent, family-run merchant based in Preston. Call us on 01772 287622 to check current stock and quantity before ordering, particularly for larger projects.
