73mm is the imperial brick depth used on most British housing built before the 1960s. Victorian and Edwardian terraces, farmhouses and period cottages are overwhelmingly built from bricks of this depth.
Using 65mm bricks on a 73mm wall is the single most common and most visible matching mistake. The courses will not line through, and no amount of mortar adjustment hides it across a full elevation.
Not sure which is right? Use our free brick matching service — send a photo of your existing brickwork and we will find the closest match. Or browse all facing bricks, handmade bricks and reclaimed bricks.
