Fossil Mint Sandstone

Pale cream and soft oatmeal, lifted by drifts of sage green, mushroom and faint pink where the seam changes. It's one of the lightest natural sandstones and among the most forgiving. The riven surface carries fine fossil markings and gentle mineral banding that reward a closer look. Its low contrast palette makes it exceptionally easy to work with, brightening shaded gardens, sitting comfortably against brick, timber and rattan, and letting planting take the lead rather than competing with it.

FAQs

Will every slab look the same?

No. Expect variation from near white cream through to slabs with pronounced green and ochre banding. Lay them out dry first and spread the more heavily marked pieces across the area.

Does it need sealing?

Recommended, and more so than with darker stones. Pale sandstone shows leaf tannin, grease and algae more readily, so a breathable impregnating sealer applied a few weeks after laying is well worth the effort.

Is it slip resistant?

Yes. The riven face is split along the stone's natural bedding plane, leaving a lightly textured surface that holds grip when wet.
